There’s not many people that don’t dream of working from home. Being able to wake up without an alarm clock, having the freedom to work in your pajamas if you want, not have to deal with gridlocked traffic twice a day — it sounds like a dream come true, doesn’t it?
The good news is that it’s indeed possible to throw away the shackles of corporate life once and for all and earn a full-time living from the comfort of your own home. However, we have to make one thing absolutely certain. You are still going to have to work!
Working online from home doesn’t mean you have free reign to slack off all day. You still have to put the time and effort in. Working for yourself as opposed to a boss you dislike is infinitely more enjoyable though, so most people don’t mind this fact.
Even in the modern information age, there are still many people out there who doubt that it’s possible to earn a living online. Some people are stuck in the past, others are just misinformed and think the whole idea is nothing but a scam. Rest assured, it’s very possible for anyone to make money online with a bit of effort!
With that said, let’s take a look at some legitimate methods you can use to start making money online.
There is huge money being made in the blogging world. As in millions of dollars per month. While making millions off a blog is probably not realistic for most people (if that’s your goal though, have at it), you can still get a nice piece of the blogging pie.
There’s all sorts of ways to make money from a blog. You can put up paid ads on your site, you can do a bit of affiliate marketing, you can release your own digital products, or even open your own private membership courses.
While blogging can be incredibly profitable, it does take some time to build up enough to reach that point. Many bloggers don’t start making decent money until after six months, or even a year in some cases!
If you’re prepared to grind it out and stay dedicated though, blogging can pay off big time for you in the long run.
2. Niche Sites
Instead of starting a blog and hoping to make a solid income later on down the line, why not learn how to make niche sites?
Simply pick a niche that are knowledgeable in, or that you feel comfortable learning about. Find some products that you can market and sell relating to that niche, and build a website around them.
Once you have some experience, they’re fairly straightforward to set up. You could even get a niche site up and running with a few pages of content within a single day if you were really dedicated to it.
You can even make a small portfolio of various niche sites that all earn you money on a consistent monthly basis.
As an added bonus, most niche sites can end up selling for 10-20x their monthly profit. What this means that if you run a niche site earning $2,000 every month, you could potentially sell it for between $20,000-$40,000.
Not bad for something that can be built in as little as one afternoon, wouldn’t you say?
There are two ways to make a living via e-commerce. The first is by either creating your own products to sell or importing products to sell, usually from China. You then advertise them online and drive traffic to them.
The second method is known as drop shipping. What this means is you secure a deal with a product manufacturer to sell their products for them. You don’t actually carry any inventory yourself; you simply promote the products and find buyers in exchange for a cut of the profits made off any sale.
Both methods have the potential to make a lot of money and can be scaled up in several different ways. They each can require a significant amount of start up capital however, which means they might not be the best option for someone who is just getting started with trying to make money.
The last legit way to make money online that we want to cover is the option of freelancing. It might not seem as glamorous as the above three options where you are working on your own business, but consider this — you can get paid today freelancing.
With blogging, niche sites, and e-commerce, they all take quite a bit of effort to get up and turn a consistent profit. It can take months or years to make a full-time living.
With freelancing however, you can do the work and get paid, all in the same day. Depending on what your skill set is that you use for freelancing, it can be quite lucrative as well.
If you possess an in demand skill like copywriting, graphic design, or web development, you can potentially make a lot of money doing freelance work online. Best of all, those are both skills you can easily learn in your own spare time with a bit of effort.
Even without any technical skills, there’s still plenty of money to be made just doing freelance article writing. It’s an excellent choice for dipping your toes into the waters of online money making!
